Nicholas’s Nursery Photo Session | In-Home Newborn Photography in Tallahassee

Parents holding newborn baby boy together in front of green owl and willow nursery wallpaper in Tallahassee

In a lovely nursery photo session filled with soft colors and dreamy patterns, the lush wallpaper surrounded little Nicholas. The design, featuring lovely owls and willow branches, created a peaceful atmosphere. The wise owls seemed to watch over him, adding a touch of whimsy to the space.

Nicholas, their first baby, was a delightful surprise for his parents. He is calm and curious. During the photo session, he needed a little soothing as all newborns do. A gentle pat, a soft voice, or a pace around the room was all it took to settle him.

Capturing these moments is like freezing time. The light in the nursery poured in. Each image turned out bright and airy. The wallpapers added a timeless charm, reflecting the love in the room.

Little details matter. The serene joy filled expression of his parents. Every glance and every touch spoke of their new adventure.

This time in their lives is fleeting but precious. Each photograph aims to tell their story. Moments of calm amidst the busy days. Joyful smiles and tender touches. The nursery became a backdrop for their shared journey.

As the session wrapped up, it was clear that these memories would last a lifetime. Each click of the camera captured not just faces, but the essence of a joyful family embracing the magic of their new normal.

I’m passionate about creating beautiful, emotive images that are reflections of natural moments filled with love. As a mom of 4, I know how quickly the years go by. If you’re looking for a Tallahassee photographer who takes natural, gently guided photos that aren’t overly posed and doesn’t use props, then we’ll be a great match.

How old should baby be when we do his/her Tallahassee newborn photography session?

Once baby and mom are safely home. Typically within the first two weeks of life, however, we can easily create newborn style photos up to 6-8 weeks of age.

What if my baby cries for the entire session? What if we don’t get any decent photos because he’s so upset?

Please don’t worry. Babies will cry and we account for that by blocking off enough time for extra cuddles and feeding during your newborn session. I’m 15 years in to this work and I’ve yet to have a baby cry for the entire session. However, should that unlikely scenario happen, and your little one is just not well the day of your session, we’ll simply reschedule for another day to come back and try again.

What Is Lifestyle Newborn Photography?

There are certain places that just make everything easier.

The light falls right. The space feels calm. The family relaxes without even realizing it.

I have been thinking a lot lately about the locations I keep coming back to, and what it is about them that works. Some are outdoors with gorgeous natural canopy and soft, open light. Some are quieter, more tucked away. Some I discovered by accident and now I wouldn't trade them.

What they all have in common is this: they feel true to the families I photograph here in Tallahassee and the surrounding area. Unhurried. Warm. Real. Give me all the "old Florida" vibes.

Swipe through to see a few of my favorites right now. Do you have a favorite spot around Tallahassee, or somewhere nearby that means something to your family? I would genuinely love to hear it - drop it in the comments or send me a message. I am always looking to grow this list.

Seen here are Goodwood Museum and Gardens, St. Theresa, Summer Camp Beach, Park Avenue Chain of Parks, and Dorothy B. Oven Park.
That’s not a filter. That’s the finish.

Editing isn’t about fixing something that went wrong, it’s the last step in creating the image. The light, the color, the feeling. It all comes together in the edit.

Raw files are a little like unfinished film negatives. They’re where we start, not where we land. What you receive is the image as it was always meant to look.

This is the part of the work I genuinely love. And it shows up in every single image I deliver.
